Article Processing Charges (APC)

Effective from Volume 3, Issue 1 (January 2027), the Electronic Journal of Medical Research (EJMR) will implement Article Processing Charges to support the journal’s editorial operations, peer-review management, long-term archiving, costs for DOI, and open-access dissemination.

Article Processing Charges:

  • Authors from Pakistan: PKR 35,000

  • Authors from all other countries: USD 350

Open Access Publication: All manuscripts submitted to the EJMR are assumed to be submitted under the Open Access publishing model. In this publishing model, papers are peer-reviewed in the normal way under editorial control. When a paper is accepted for publication, the author is issued an invoice for payment of an article publishing charge (see payment details below). Payment of this charge allows the journal to recover its editorial and production costs and to create a pool of funds that can be used to provide fee waivers for authors from lower-income countries (see below).

There are no submission charges as such, only the article publishing charge after the paper is accepted for publication. Owing to fluctuations in foreign exchange rates, fees may occasionally be subject to change without notice. Published papers appear electronically and are freely available from the journal's website. Authors may also use their published .pdf for any non-commercial use on their personal or non-commercial institution's website.

Fee discounts and waivers

Authors living in developing countries: We encourage our authors to publish their papers with us and don’t wish the cost of article publishing charges to be an insurmountable barrier, especially to authors from the low and lower-middle-income countries. A range of discounts or waivers is offered to authors who are unable to pay our article publishing charges. These are dependent on the current availability of funds for fee waivers.

Who can request an APC discount or waiver to reduce publishing charges (APCs) for open-access articles?

Contact authors with primary affiliation in countries defined by the World Bank as low-income economies and which also have a gross domestic product (GDP) of less than 100 billion US dollars, are entitled to a 100% APC waiver when they publish in a full open access journal.

A 50% discount on a normal APC is also available to contact authors from countries defined by the World Bank as lower-middle-income economies, who have a gross domestic product (GDP) of less than 200 billion US dollars. See the full list of eligible countries.

Special discounts may also apply for invited articles, editorially commissioned work, or articles contributing to special issues.

Please note that changes made to the World Bank list of Low-Income Economies each July can take a short period of time to be reflected in our submission systems. You may find discrepancies until the beginning of August while the update work takes place.

APC Disclaimer

The Editorial Board of the EJMR maintains a strict policy ensuring that Article Processing Charges (APCs) have no influence whatsoever on editorial decisions. All manuscripts submitted to EJMR undergo an independent, rigorous, and unbiased peer-review process, and decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection are based solely on the scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, and relevance of the research.

Payment of APCs, whether full, discounted, or waived, does not affect the review process or the final editorial outcome. Authors are notified of the APC requirement only after acceptance of the manuscript. The EJMR is committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and editorial independence.
